Rewarding Excellence

PJH Law take LCS client care award

PJH Law has won the inaugural Legal Complaints Service (LCS) award for client care excellence. The award, presented at the Law Society Excellence Awards 2008, went to the employment law specialists after their pioneering approaches to maintaining and developing client-focused services wowed the judges.

PJH impressed the judges with several original ideas. These included a daily employment blog, client training facilities and online educational tools. They also offer an annual retainer allowing clients to block book time at a discounted rate.

Typical of their approach, PJH sent their members of staff who do more client care than most - their front of house receptionists - to collect the award. Senior partner Philip Hyland shared his delight at the award with the world via his blog on PJH Law's website, where he wrote:

"We were thrilled to make the finalists for these awards as it is recognition of our excellent client service.  To get to the final when the awards are national and we are up against the big city firms is a major achievement for the firm. If there is any award that a law firm wants to win it's this one, so it's an immensely proud moment."

The judges were particularly impressed with PJH's interaction with their clients, saying: "Their extensive feedback surveys showed just how effective this was - a superb example to any firm of how a genuinely proactive approach to client care reaps rewards."

Deborah Evans, LCS Chief Executive, was keen to praise all those short-listed: "We were extremely impressed with the response. There was a diverse range of firms apply, from large City firms to sole practitioners, all telling us how they had developed their business to offer the best service possible to their clients. What all the short-listed candidates had in common was their willingness to put the client first, whatever challenges they faced."
